Dionne and the fabulous runners from Team Caterpillar run club hosted another amazing back yard ultra. You might wonder what a backyard ultra run is, well it’s really very simple. You run a 4.1 mile or so loop starting on the hour, every hour until the last runner is the winner.
The Sting BackYard Ultra 2026 followed the same route as 2025, it’s first running. The course starts and finished at the beautiful Brompton on Swale Caravan park. It starts out the park past Easby Abbey then heads along the river Swale in to Richmond. Crossing the bridge on the edge of town if heads back to the Abbey from a different side before heading back in to the park.

The atmosphere on the run is fantastic and supportive. Runners make friends with people they’ve never met and these friendships tend to last. The atmosphere at the event village is party like, music and games with stalls and food vendors. A real treat for the runners when they finish and their support crew when they wait.
Brompton on Swale Caravan Park is the perfect venue for this event. A fab location for Back Yard Ultras but also with a host of facilities and amenities it has the lot. Games rooms to food outlets and a shop for all the necessities, it’s a little gem.
You can see photos from this and other events on our RACE PHOTOS page where you ca search by bib number and selfie. Thanks
