What a FABULOUS family fun filled running event was last weekend’s Longhorn Trail Runs.

With distances from the family 2k fun run to a half marathon this really had something for everyone. Including the four legged friends having option of 5k to half marathon. Definitely something for everyone.

All the trail runs followed gorgeous trails around the beautiful grounds of Thoresby Park. Within the heart of Nottinghamshire, Thoresby Park is a lovely place to visit all year round with a range of attractions for all the family no matter how young or old. The extensive grounds cover over 1000 acres of rich unspoilt English countryside.

Young Jack Smith took the glory for the 2k family run in just under eleven minutes with Evie Smith being the fastest girl in fourteen minutes. Oliver Blanchard was first in the half marathon in 1hr 31mins and 48secs with Hayley Cooper taking the ladies race with 1hr 48mins and 14secs. Philip Morgan with his four legged companion completed the course in 1hr 33mins and 16sec while Natalie and her lovely dog completed the course in 2hrs 5mins and 33secs. The weather helped with some great sunshine and a light breeze to cool the runners as they made their way around these awsome grounds.

The event hosted by Wild Deer Events is one of their most popular annual trail runs, suitable for young and old. Unlike Nike they welcome walkers and often have large groups of Nordic Walkers taking part. Details of more of their events can be found on their socials and the Wild Deer Events website.
