Alnwick Castle was the backdrop for this weeks amazing run. Hosted by the team at Wild Deer it’s an old favourite of theirs. And many others for that matter! It was great seeing some familiar faces don their running vests and shorts – those who were brave enough to do so as this time it was a little chilly.

The welcoming Northumbria Coffee was of course on hand with delicious refreshments and the whole day was organised in great style. A fabulous atmosphere usually occurs at this annual event and this year was no different.
From the crazy Morpeth These Girls Can Run to the runners new to events like this all seemed to have a wonderful time and shared many positive comments. It was great to see friends in the line up like @kirstyruns.a @curiuscompass @wayne_the_runner and many more.
The weather certainly did not spoil the atmosphere or dampen any enthusiasm. With great runs all round. The trail runs had 10k and half marathon options that looped around the castle grounds. A lot of the grounds are private and it’s only events like these where you can truly appreciate some of it hidden grandeur.
Benjamin Clark completed the 10k route in an impressive 43 mins and 22 secs with Carole Page running 49 min and 16 secs – WELL DONE Both (and everyone else). Nick Spencer achieved 1 hr 21 mins and 20 secs for the half marathon and Rachel Sheriff completed the distance in 1 hour 39 mins and 53 secs.
Whilst it was supposed to stay dry for the duration there was quite a heavy shower at the mid point, but as already mentioned these runners were made of stern stuff and it did not deter them or slow the fun down. Certainly when the bad weather hit me on the bridge it seemed to have the opposite and create more crazy running poses, yes we had aeroplanes, love hearts, thumbs up and a plethora of others.
WELL DONE ALL, another great run with fabulous organisation and amazing support, You Were AMAZING.
